Paintings
My approach to painting is process-oriented and I am focussed on revealing that which is emerging during the act of creating. I see a parallel between the process of creating an image and the human experience of existence over time.
I construct the image with specific intentional marks or actions: the juxtaposition of multiple marks and colours uncovers shapes and structures. The shapes become entities unto themselves, abstract representations of the cumulative effect of human action. Diverse, embryonic shapes in various stages of formation unfold and interact. They co-exist, delicately balanced in an undetermined, unexplored space, depicting the landscape of existence.
